Hong Kong 2008

A week in Hong Kong and Macau.

Hong Kong is pretty densely populated, in case you weren't aware. Spent a week in Hong Kong. Trams on Hong Kong Island. Bamboo is used whatever the height of the building. Gage Street, or so the picture tells me. The new Central Pier, from where you catch... the famous Star Ferry to Kowloon. Action shot. Road up the Nong Ping cable car. At the top is a Buddha. Many make the pilgrimage. Cable car passes right by Chep Lap Kok Island, the location of the airport. I mean really pack them in. They really pack the people in. It's quite a ride. They also pack them in after they die. Graveyard. The Tram to The Peak. More Tram. More Peak. It was hazy the whole time I was there. This was actually the clearest day. The famous bamboo scaffolding. The Harbour at night. The photos don't do it justice. The Olympic Torch was passing through on its Journey of (dis)Harmony. Off to Macao to try my luck at the casinos. Or maybe look at some Portuguese heritage. The ruins of St. Paul's. And also: Olympic Torch advertising! The Macau Tower, with haze. Torch-run preparations. Looks safe enough to me. The day I left, there was a typhoon. It's hard to take pictures of a typhoon.
